Main Duties
Islanders Iceworks is the official practice facility of the New York Islanders. It also serves as a thriving figure skating and youth hockey training academy. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, well-organized and must possess a responsible nature. They should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be prepared to interact with a large customer base. Interns will be expected to respond to various situations quickly and professionally. The position will include general administrative work such as processing applications and database management. In addition, the Iceworks intern will also be required to be present at Islanders home games as a representative of Iceworks. Interns may also be called upon to assist Islanders staff during team practices and events.
The Islanders Community Relations department acts as a liaison between the Islanders team and the community on Long Island. Interns entering into this
department will participate in the following activities on a day to day basis: planning and hosting events throughout Long Island as part of our grassroots
marketing campaigns. These events could include appearances from Islanders players, the Ice Girls and our mascot, Sparky; assisting with charitable in-kind
donation requests; fulfillment of New York Islanders Kids Club and assisting the Community Relations department during summer events. Interns will also be
assisting on Islanders Children’s Foundation events.

My goals of this internship are to gain knowledge about the sports industry and to learn what it takes to be a part of a successful professional sports team.
Expected Learning Outcomes
I am expecting to learn about what goes on inside a professional sports organization to make it function properly. I am also expectiong to learn what has to happen to make sure events go as planned.
